STL and IST win Best Stall at this year's AITEC Summit

Our CEO, Mrs. Jyoti Mukherjee, was one of the keynote speakers at the 2-day conference held at KICC, Nairobi. Other speakers included: Paul Kukubo, CEO of the Kenya ICT Board; Kai Uwe Wulff, CEO of Kenya Data Networks; Russell Southwood, CEO of Balancing Act; and Dr Tim Kelly, a Lead ICT Policy Specialist at infoDev, a multi-donor agency hosted by the World Bank in Washington, to name a few.
aitecThe conference, organized by AITEC Africa, is the premier ICT Conference in the region. The highlight of the event was our stall's window of opportunity. Visitors were challenged to design and fold their own innovative paper plane that wouldn't miss their window of opportunity. Even the PS Ministry of ICT, Dr. Bitange Ndemo, couldn't resist giving it a go. And sure enough, the once senior lecturer on entrepreneurship designed a plane that hit the target on the very first try!

IST Employee of the Year 2009-2010: Thomas Nyaraga

Thomas has actually inspired us to start the "Employee of the Month" initiative. His positively helpful, courteous and cheerful attitude cannot go unnoticed. Countless visitors and students have made a point of commending his service to management personally. There is never an occasion when Thomas will not do what he promises. And there is nothing that Thomas will not do with a smile on his face. And what a smile he has - a smile that beams genuinely from the heart, a smile that has the power to instantly turn a dreary moment into a bright ray of hope!
potato dongleThank you Thomas for all that you do - there are things you do that are hard to miss and even more things that go completely unnoticed by most - yet you do them all with the same unrelenting attention to detail and devotion. We cannot say this enough: thank you, thank you, thank you!

How on earth do the IST team unwind?

On the first Friday of every month, the IST team spend a few hours after class unwinding together and engaging in some downright silliness! This June, we got down with the old favourite game called potato dongle which calls for high levels of skills and dexterity in hip grinding and rolling. Nivi was timekeeper as Festus, Sammy, Catherine and Edwin warmed up and Geoffrey, Thomas and James look on.

STL LAUNCHES NEW BRAND AMIDST SPLENDOR, THRILL AND LUXURY

The 11th of March will be a milestone for the Software Technologies Limited (STL) group of companies, in their two decades of being the pioneers in the Kenyan IT industry. We launched our new brand and the new premises of - Institute of Software Technologies (IST). The launch was at IST’s state of the art training center, on the 8th floor of I&M Bank Tower, in the heart of Nairobi.

The memorable evening exceeded everyone’s expectations: from the moment they walked in; through their various “hunts” for iPods; during the short comedy by the Phoenix Players; as we awarded a scholarship to an outstanding young girl; and a PLAYSTATION3 to a lucky young man.  All this in an ambiance that spelt proficiency with a dash of fun! Especially impressive was the turnout of guests from the esteemed business fraternity who have been associated with STL for years.

Technology is the lifeblood of modern businesses. It can be complicated, but it takes organizations to a different level. Keeping this in mind, we unveiled our new brand and incorporated brand values of being insightful, dynamic, innovative and having a passion for delivery. Our personality encompasses the true essence of the STL family. We are intelligent, customer biased and trend setters in whatever we do. All of us embarked on a mission to exceed customer expectations and promised to deliver Impressive Software Solutions.

The sky is the limit for us at the STL group of companies. Despite being Africa’s global software solutions provider, we are in a constant endeavor to perfect our existing solutions and create innovative solutions whilst adhering to CMMi and ISO standards. We are venturing into upgrading all our solutions to the SaaS (Software as a Service) model and provide Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) on our Human Resource and Payroll systems. Owing to the roaring success of IST,which has been pronounced as East Africa’s top software training institute, we are determined to set up similar training institutes in Tanzania, Rwanda and other African nations. Our CEO, Mrs. Jyoti Mukherjee said, “STL has been at the forefront of Africa’s technology revolution, taking on Africa’s Software Automation challenges for the last two decades, we are still young and ambitious. We are all set to transform the Kenyan ICT space.”

IST Awards Full Scholarship to Top KCSE Girl: Grace Wambui

Beating All the Odds
When IST read the story of a young girl called Njung’e Grace Wambui, we were simply, overwhelmed.  After weeks of stressful preparation, it was a relief when we finally found something we all agreed on - indeed, this young lady deserved to be rewarded!
Grace is last year’s top KCSE girl.  And we really mean it when we say “beating all odds.”  Grace is 1 of three children raised by her mother. She comes from Dandora slums where her mother makes and sells soap to make ends meet. As an institution dedicated to providing opportunities through education, we are delighted to award Grace a full scholarship to our ICDL and Diploma Programs.

Mr. Job Kihumba awards the scholarship to Grace’s mother Jemima Wairimu and brother Job Waweru
The ICDL (International Computer Driving License) will equip her with the basic knowledge to use IT in any industry and in any field.  Our Diploma Program is a highly practical vocational training for the IT industry.Although Grace says she would like to go into actuary, this is one girl who has ahead of her, several “windows of opportunities” and they are wide open.  Congratulations Grace - the entire STL family is right beside you as you embark on the journey ahead!
